If you booked with a mainland ID card, you can enter by scanning the original card at the gate. No paper ticket is needed.
If you booked with a passport or a Hong Kong, Macao or Taiwan travel document, bring the original documents for every guest in your party to the ticket office on the day of the show. You collect paper tickets there, which act as your seat vouchers, and then enter with both the paper ticket and the original document.
If you do not have your original ID with you, you can use your own electronic ID, household register or driver licence at the ticket office. It has to be your own document. Quoting an ID number or using a document belonging to someone else will not work.
A daytime visit to Huaqing Palace needs a palace admission ticket. The evening show needs only a show ticket. The two are separate, so do not buy a palace ticket just to see the show.
